Cotton is a vegetable textile raw material, which consists mainly of cellulose. The cotton plant grows in the tropical and sub-tropical zone and it gets between 25cm and 2m tall depending on the type, climate and the cultivation method. After the bloom the seed capsule bursts and the seed fiber oozes out. By spinning the seed fibers to yarn cotton fibers are made.
The country of origin, the type of cotton and the purity tell us important information about the quality of cotton. It is hard-wearing and has a high tensile strength. It absorbs moisture and is gentle to the skin because of its softness and fineness. The expansibility is low and because of that cotton crinkles strong. With various refinements elasticity, strength and gloss can be improved.
